...not be served but to serve.

Hi people, how are you guys doing? Hope everyone is doing fine. I believe there is always a first time for everything, so here I am, out of boredom writing my first ever blog!! Who knows if anyone out there is beginning to feel dull, weary or bored who might want to read some of my story. Haha.. Like what I have already mentioned, I had so little things to do other than going to my dad’s office and seeing how well his projects are progressing. Other than that, meeting some old friends maybe? After all I’ve been through, I can only say that God has been really good to me despite all the things I have done to disappoint Him. For you guys no matter how bad in a situation that you currently in, I know one thing for sure that He is always there for you and He reserved only the best for all of us. (See SUN’s post on “A Wonderful Explanation”) I’m reminded of our God’s favor! In order for us to get His favor, we have to be special in His eyes. Being special means having close relationship with God, always wanting to be by God’s side, seeking His face not only when we have nowhere else to go but put Him on our top priority list and of course, fulfilling the God given purpose in our lives. Speaking about God’s favor, Peter, James and John was the 3 closest disciples of Jesus; they were special in God’s eyes, they yearn for His teaching and do whatever God asked them to do. Knowing how great their journey is with our God, it would be unimaginable what can God do with our lives. The way God uses each and every one of us to make a difference is just crazy!!

Recently (again out of boredom), I happen to read this book which my friend lent me. Barely finishing half the book, I was already amazed at how sharp the author’s instinct is at leadership. In this book, John Maxwell talks about influencing other people surrounding us, making a positive impact in their lives and he also explains on how to become a person of influence (adding value to others lives). The first thing that came into my mind about influencing others is authority. Many people mistakenly believe that they way to become an influencer is to become an authority figure. If I am in a higher position than them, only then they will listen to me. The truth is, as John explained in the first few chapters of his book, that in order for us to influence others, we need to have first, something called integrity. The benefit of integrity is trust and the benefit of trust is influence. To achieve the integrity level, a strong character is necessary. So, wants to influence others? Develop first a strong character; commit ourselves to honesty, reliability and confidentiality. Not to forget, character is made in the small moments of our lives. This means consistency! Another factor, we have to exemplify humility. People won’t trust us if they see that we are driven by ego, jealousy or the belief that we are better than they are. The next quality that we must have is the ability to nurture (motivating).

“In some regards, people respond similarly to the way some animals do. And like animals, people need to be cared for, not just physically, but emotionally. If we look around, we’ll discover that there are people in our life who want to be fed, with encouragement, recognition, security and hope. That process is called nurturing and it’s a need of every human being.”

It is all just the nature of nurturing, as we try to help and influence the people around us, we must have positive feelings and concern for them. If we want to make a positive impact on them, we cannot dislike, despise or disparage them. We must give them love and respect. We can’t make the other fellow feel important if you secretly feel that he or she is a nobody. It’s hard isn’t it?! Why do we need to become a nurturer? It’s because people are influenced most by those who make them feel the best about themselves. If you become a major nurturer in the lives of others, then you have an opportunity to make a major impact on their lives! Remember, If you nurture others but allow them to become dependent on you, you’re really hurting them, not helping them! A nurturing influencer is also a Giver, because you do it by focusing on giving rather than getting. Love, respect, encouragement are some things we can offer to others (flenenkuche’s post). Without Love, there can be no connection, no future, and no success together. The length and breadth of our influence on others are directly related to the depth of our concern for them. When it comes to helping people grow and feel good about themselves, there is no substitute for love. Respect is another issue, making it clear to them that their feelings are important, their preferences are respected and their opinions are valuable. “Where love focuses on giving to others, respect shows a willingness to receive from them. Respect acknowledges another person’s ability or potential to contribute.” Encouragement, “when a person feels encouraged, he can face the impossible and overcome incredibly adversity.” – John C. Maxwell.

Personally, it is not easy for me to achieve these nurturing qualities. Especially when you need to genuinely care for the person yg loe org ga gitu suka. I’m reminded by the verse Romans 12: 9-21 – “do not repay anyone evil for evil”. “If your enemy is hungry, feed him.” Nobody is perfect, no matter how deep we fall, never fail to rise again when we are still able to. Ini cmn sharing gw buat kali ini, cape jg nulis ginian, I doubt I’ll ever write here again.. gw jg ga tau kenapa gw bisa tiba2 mau nulis(terus terang blog ini membantu gw), mungkin gara2 gw bosen jg and gw cmn keinget kalo tuhan mau kita jadi kepala dan bukan ekor (ulangan 28:13). Pegen aja dipake tuhan.. ciehh hahaha..hmm siapa tau ini membantu.. hehe..ya dahh, enjoy your holiday people!!
